Just found out from a local dealer that the famous SSR8 is making a way back to Malaysia market.... so far I just managed to get 2 color out of it... S & SD. According to the dealer, FP & RFSH are other colors that reproduce for local market, but i need to confirm it later...  Beside this, SR8 GF are also making it's way back. Think about it, it's going to burn my wallet again....  PS: will post the photo once i get hold of all the SSR8 & SR8 reissue here. |

Keep us posted. I just discovered the SSR-8 thanks to another board member Jake. I have been able to find as many as I want and its a dream to cast. I Doubt will see these in the US market. It seems Malaysia scores some cool come back lures like the fat raps and now the SSR-8

Hi.
if FP and RFSH is in there, i guess this is the same 6 colors which came out one or 2 years ago for eastern europe.
it was S, SD, P, FP, RFSH and one more color i dont remember right now; but the FP and RFSH were the only new colors.
it will be interesting to see if they add any more new colors the the SSR8.

only problem with that is finding a 'dealer', we do have a few malaysian members that could help you locate some, but my experience tells me that the asian releases of stuff like this costs about the same as the old ones here after shipping and exchange rates and small profits.

Why would rapala only release these in Malaysia. I have never been there, but i can only arrongnatly guess the US fishing market has deeper pockets. Is that where some marketing whizbang from Rapala decided they would get rich off the Malaysians?

its not just malaysia, its south east asia as a whole. they have been getting more and different colors since rapala started marketing to them, at least since the 80's. its slightly inexplicable, but its just how it works for some reason. se asia has seen area only releases of fat raps, shallow fat raps(twice), camo/solid colors on MFR's, cd, and j's. and now remakes of the ssr. i guess we should just be glad that we kinda got 6 colors of the h-13 a couple years ago.

Mr. Bacon- thanks for your reply and valuable insight. Let's stay plugged in on any release our way. I have a fat supply of SSR-8's but my kids and I go through five or so every spring on the St. Johns river FL. When I get low or what equals to 10yrs worth of fishing them, I get nervous. I am getting nervous now.

I got my hands on a SSR9 in Fire Percht recently!!!!! such a nice lure!!! Now I am lookin' for Goldfish and BHO colour!
