It depends on your fishing style. I prefer using snaps (without the swivel - its weight affects the lure's action) because I change lures quite a bit and since I use braid with a mono leader most of the time I don't want to shorten the length of leader every time I tie on a different lure (the leader to braid knot is not one of the easiest knots to tie in the midst of fishing). The Rapala knot is definitely the way to go unless the lure has a split ring and then a simple Improved Clinch Knot will do the job nicely. Nigel

I personally think that knots work better. If you use snap swivels a lot you can notice that it takes away from the action of the lure, along with steel leaders. I am also like you though, I use snap swivels so I can change lures quickly and not have to retie every lure change.

I would vote for knots if it was between snap SWIVELS and knots. I will also agree with Israel on snaps - I use the smallest or second smallest available - so that I can change lures quickly. When using knots, even the knot placement (or location on the eye of the lure) can change the action of the lure (in the instance that you are tying directly to the lure eye - such as an original Floater).
Snaps will give the lure a certain action, the Rapala knot a different action and then tying directly to the floater with an improved clinch or a polymer knot will give the lure an even different action.
At the end of the day - I would take the fishes word on it!

My vote is for SNAPS alone, no swivel. This topic has been discussed several times in just the past year or so since I've been a member using this site, so I know this is a hot topic for many Rapala users. I agree with those that claim they notice a decrease in lure action with the snap-swivel, but I too enjoy the convenience of quick lure changes without cutting and re-tying, so its SNAPS alone tied to my lines as terminal tackle before adding any lure. Just my 2 cents. p.s. - I like using small (size 1) anodized red.

Both. It depends on where I go. Some places require me to switch between sizes and types. I'll go with snaps at that point. Otherwise, Rapala or Palomer.
