It's official, I have more tackle than is good for me! Returning from my most recent fishing trip I was unloading the back of my pick-up, threw my 40+ pound, very sizeable Plano "Tackle Logic" soft-sided tackle bag onto my shoulder by the padded shoulder strap like I always do, and "pop!", the strap snaps free from the stitching holding it to the bag itself, and "crash!" the bag ends up on the garage floor. Fortunately, no tackle or humans were injured in the catastrophe. I'm devastated though, I love my huge yellow and black nylon canvas Plano tackle bag, stuffed with over 12 plano hard bins and soft-plastics binders. I've had it for over 10 years, and they don't make this model anymore! I'm in a quandry, do I seek out a professional seamstress and see if it can be repaired somehow? Or, do I use this opportunity to update my lure hauling equipment. The closest style bags that Plano currently produces are the FTO Elite series, and the only two that are of the style and capacity necessary for my needs retail in the $165 to $200 price range!

There are some very heavy duty sports bags in sports stores which can be used for fishing tackle boxes like plano ones. Much cheaper also ( soccer/rugby gym style bags) I even have a couple used ones i bought at a thrift store for $2.99, hold 8-10 plano boxes each

I had considered that Casey, but I'm kind of particular when it comes to my tackle investment. I would have to find just the right size gym bag for all my Plano 3700s, it would have to be a snug fit (the way the actual tackle bags are designed), I couldn't deal with the boxes jostling around. I know, it's kind of OCD, but that's just the way I am. Oh, and thanks for the offer "fishohio", but its all stuff I ABSOLUTELY need!

Yep, for sure search out somebody to fix that bag for you. After all why waste $200 on a bag when you can spend that on more lures!

The Rapala Magnum bag holds 8 3700 size boxes and in 2012 there will be a new front opening "horizontal" bag in Rapala's new lighter green luggage range that will hold 6 x 3700 boxes that can lie flat so the lures don't get so tangled. Actually the new luggage range looks nice, and is very well made. I was lucky enough to be given a gift of one of the first new side loader duffel bags which hold 2 x 3700 boxes by Rapala Europe pic below
