Just returned from Lake Eerie yesterday afternoon. Drove out 5 hours to it on Tuesday morning, spent the night at a waterpark resort (Great Wolf), spent open to close Wednesday at Cedar Point amusement park, then drove home all day yesterday Thursday. Nice little family vacation, the 8 year old loved the roller coasters. My gripe is: I was right there on the shores of Lake Eerie, one of the best smallmouth fisheries in the country, and I didn't even get a chance to wet a line! Don't know if I'll ever make it back that way, but if I do I guarantee I'll be packing a rod & reel and some tackle, even if its to fish for a couple of hours in between family activities. Everytime I looked out at the lake from the top of a rollercoaster hill the water was just taunting me!

I fish up by Lake Erie alot. Haven't caught too many small mouth where we fish in the past couple years. Mainly catch sheephead now and boy do they get big with the gobies present now. If you do get a chance to get back up there, I would recommend targeting them. You can catch a lot of them and I have caught them up to 15lbs.
