The spawn allready begun so this was the only one I could get to hit the lure. Now it is done so I'll have to wait until spawn ends.

I love the Subwalk... )) I suck with the Subwalk, and it's starting to bother me!! I got an OGO in size 09 as soon as they came out, and still have nothing to show for it!! I have had a few follows, but no takers. I was wondering if you guys had any tips or tricks you'd like to recommend?? I know we are generally fishing for different species, but the techniques may translate over to bass and I'd certainly be willing to try. Also, you guys have seen enough pics of the bass I usually catch, so you know they are far from giants. I'm thinking a step down from size 09 to size 07 might be a good idea. Let me know what you think, any input would be appreciated. I'm glad to see you still doing this Kees!! I love the pics!! I still haven't got my camera fixed, so I have been slacking on mine lately. I just got a new phone with a decent camera though, so I at least have something. Hopefully I'll get a few this weekend to add to my list!!

Hi buddy!
Tips and tricks on the subwalk.
I have had followers too on em and it took me some time to get the hang of it. especialy because of a slightly too long of a rod that I use. What I usualy do is alternating between fast snapping jerks and slow gliding jerks in one cast. This variation is getting me most of the hits on it.
I can't say for sure but, maybe bass is not liking this lure? I have never had a bass on it as far as I know. all pike. and pike are hitting it like wilderbeasts!
You can also let it sink a bit so a deeper presentation is possible if the fish arent feeding that shallow.
Stepping down a size could help on bass I think.
When closed season is over I will be continueing this with even some more subwalks, I have a bunch that still need to pop the cherry if it comes to catching pike.
I hope your cam will be fixed soon! a new small pocket cam isnt that expensive though.

That was a nice fish two pics back. About a 10lbs (4.5kg)? significantly larger than most the others it seems. It sure looks old and beat up too, my 18 lbs pike didn't look nearly that torn up and dark. Probably just cuz of where you are. Nice fish though!

Yeah, it was kinda beat up. had this weird spot on its head. you can see it in the picture. Most pikes are fairly small though.
If I want to catch big pikes then I always go deadbait fishing. mostly 20LB+ what I catch with deadbait.

Eversince I got the LC10 P from John and having great succes with it I am so much more confident on the whole perch colour. I used to ignor this colour completly. Today I had a small window of time to cast for pike and it is confirmed again, perch is a very good colour for pike. although this is a fairly small pike. FLR10 P

Look for streaming water, look for the swirling in the water, this is the spot where they are hitting for confused baitfish. Use small shallow running lures, think X-rap 6 or 8.. Bluefox spinners size 3 or 4. they have the tendency to go for natural coloured baits. like X-rap silver or gold. alltough I did caught one once on a J-11 Firetiger.. Beware, they hit very hard! unsuspected and will feel like a much bigger fish then they are.
Here a list of lures I selected that I am going to purchase for targetted Asp fishing!
Rapala X-rap 6 S Rapala ULM 6 S Rapala ULS 6 SB Rapala FLR 6 CH Rapala TE7 CH

It has been quiet for a while because of some health isseus. but I am back! Here some updates from today's fishing. I was targetting Asp but Instead I caught a bunch of perch and a pike. TE7 Blue Foil ULM 06 SB And another on the same lure XR-6 S ULM 06 S It was funny to see that the perch where going crazy on the ULM 06 SB but they did not even react on the ULM 06 S. could it be just the colour?

Maxsam, I can really recomend doin' this. it made me apprieciate lures I'd never would use in the past. The wider range and diversity of lures is making me capable to take on more spots and making me a more succesfull fisherman.

I've been throwing my new streamer and missed a pike. at the end of the session I changed to a LC10 in BTR and instantly a young pike took it. Have seen a couple of pike rolling the bottom when I introduced this lure.
