Picked up a CNC-53 in Rusty Crawdad off ebay for $4.50 shipped so I thought I would give it a try in the river next to my house. Rod: St. Croix Premier 6ft Med-heavy action Reel: Daiwa Megaforce 100TSH Line: 50lb Spiderwire stealth braid Time spent fishing: 20 minutes Number of casts: Roughly 30 Snag Resistance: Above average Fish Caught: 1 roughly 14 inch northern pike plus one other that fell off after about 5 seconds of fighting (which went into a snag right after the fish fell off, causing me to go swimming for the CNC) Review: Pros:Lure looks good, swam good, held up to bashing against rocks good (paint didn't even chip), shallow running (works well in rocky areas), and casts really good for a 2" lure. Cons: Price- At $11 average retail value around here, it makes it a hard lure for the average man to afford. Overall: 4.5 out of five stars. I was very impressed with the lure, as I was expecting another expensive lure that doesn't catch fish (like most lures that have come out lately). The only thing that kept me from giving it 5 stars was the price. Just a few pics:

Great review, thanks. I guess it's about time to get one of these things.
A couple questions if you don't mind - 1. On the pause, does the lure rise slowly or does it rise quickly? 2. Does it have a real wide, hard thumping wobble? (From the looks of the lip angle, it looks like it would have a wide wobble)

I'm not sure about #1, but the wobble is more of in between, not as wide of a wobble as a fat, I would say somewhere near a SSR or maybe not even that wide. Ill check into #1 next time I get out fishing

Glad you're enjoying the CNC "90Collector"! I agree, they are a bit pricey, but I bit the bullet and picked up a few as soon as they became available at the retail shops. I got a little bit of a deal during winter in the early part of the year, I took advantage of a Dick's Sporting Goods 20% off sale and got some for a little under 9 bucks apiece. The colors that have worked well for me (I fish primarily largemouthe bass) are Silver and Olive, in both the 53 and 76 sizes. On a side note I've had great success with another similar profile and lip design "new this year" lure that's not a Rapala (I know, blasephemy, right). I'm speaking of the Strike King KVD 1.5 and 2.5 in the Sexy Shad Ghost pattern. Even though in another thread on this forum I bashed the "Sexy Shad" pattern on other Strike King lures, but the clear body of the "ghost" pattern with that coloration must have made the difference because it was a producer for me this summer on KY Lake!

Tried the Clackin crank out this weekend on a lake I usually only catch fish if I'm using spinner baits or topwater baits, and I must say it worked better than either of those! I discovered two weaknesses though, the sureset rear hook foul hooks and injurs a lot of fish, and since the hooks are so small, any fish over 15 inches were bending them! I didn't think nothing of it and just kept bending them back but then I had about a four pound largemouth on, and he fell off right at the boat due to the front hook completely straightening out. I replaced the hooks with sligthly larger/stronger hooks, hopefully this doesnt affect its catching ability. I will let everyone know next time I hit the water

Maybe with just line tied to it it might slowly rise?

I haven't used the small CNC53 models much just the CNC74s - I do not think their wobble is as wide as you would think - then again it depends on what lure wobble you're comparing it to. Its a great lure for low light conditions, that's for sure - I got on the lake a little TOO EARLY yesterday and it was still dark by the time I was in the middle of the lake and ready to go. So I hooked on a CNC74 and trolled until it was light out
