I hate to ask things like this but here goes. I recently bought a Phoebe lure and I just figured I would tie on to the split ring and throw it, but there is know split ring. Do I add a split ring or tie to the lure directly or is there some other option I'm missing.

I think most commonly would be a snap swivel put on it. Or a split ring also with a swivel and tie to the swivel. Try a few different styles and you'll probably see different actions from those. Just my 2 cents...............

I suggest always tie your line directly to your lure... With the Rapala-Knot always... Snap-swivels definitely alter the action of the lure... If you are not using the Rapala-Knot, you're not getting the action the lure is famous for... Read up on "The Cardinal Rules of Fishing a Rapala"...

swampfootnc, The Acme Phoebe is not a Rapala lure. If I'm right, it's a kind of spinner. Because it spins, I think it would be good to use a swivel to keep your line from twisting. I think it also depends on what you are fishing for. Because there are a lot of pikes here in the Netherlands, I always use a leader.
