Ok folks, I had to make some tough decisions - I wasn't even going to give away the X-Rap Prop or Rippin Rap 07s - but I am hopeful that Rapala will be able to help us out and send over some more lures. With that being said, the following are the people receiving lures for review. You all agree to accept these lures, provided that you write up a lure review as best as you possibly can, and please provide pictures, yes lots of pictures of your lure in action, your day on the lake, and of course, any fish you catch with these lures. Once I receive your submission it will be published here, on our Facebook page, and also be used on that blog of mine I ever have time to update (LOL) - so keep that in mind. If it sounds like it would be a commitment that you cannot fulfill, please let me know now so I can give someone else a chance. If you were not chosen, don't be discouraged as they may be more opportunities down the road. I also have a tendency to favor those who spend a decent amount of time on here and contribute to the site - especially since I don't have as much time to do so as I used to. Rippin Rap 07 - thecrankincracker
Rippin Rap 06 - fireman1979
Ripping Rap 05 - turtle
X-Rap Prop 11 - bass kandy
X-Rap Pop 07 - casey10
Ultralight Minnow 04 - fishinginisreal
Ultralight Minnow 06 - qbert
Ultralight Shad 04 - aikido09
I may or may not already have your addresses - but please send me a PM or email me at RapalaNation@gmail.com - I will try to get these out this week. We are also not shy about accepting 'donations' to help offset shipping costs as well...

Also just as a heads up I did open the boxes for the Prop, Pop, and Rippin Rap 06 - because I had to at least try them first

I'm looking forward to testing the Ultralight Minnow 04 along our rocky shoreline and over the reefs in our area (sea fishing - that is). Now that the summer is over and the autumn is here, the sea is beginning to calm down some which means I won't be getting as wet from the waves splashing over the rocks I'm sure that the Ultralight Minnow 04 will catch some nice fish...... Just wanted to drop a quick note that all of these lures have been shipped early this past week - so our USA friends should be getting theirs by now, and for our overseas friends - let me know when they arrive.

Did you caught something with the Rippin Rap 06, or haven't you tried it yet (because it's getting dark to early)?

I did try today, but the darkness came in too early to catch some fish. Hope to catch some saturday. But the Ripping 06 casts very good and far and is very loud. I like it already!

I finally got out to test the new XRAP POP 07 that I was fortunate enough to get from Rapalanation. The test date was 3 Nov 2011. It was 2 degrees C when we got on the water in the morning and reached a high of 12C during the afternoon. The water temperature was 39C and remained there for the day. It was very breezy on the lake we tried but the river had many sheltered coves and protected areas with nice flat and calm water. I took one picture of the lure in my boat and 3 of it in the water. Only one of the water pics came out and even it is not very clear. I was using a 6' 6" shimano med action rod with a Matzuo spinning reel, spooled with hi visability yellow 15 lb power pro braid line. I normally use a swivel on my lures but you cannot attach the type I use to the POP 07 because of the deep concave front surface. I tied the line directly to the lure and was surprised at the distance it could be cast. I actually put it on the shore on several occasions. It pushed a good stream of water when twitched and looked great in the water. I believe the cold water temperature was the reason we got no response from the smallmouth bass we were seeking. I used the lure for 3 hours straight while on the river with no hits. We tried our favorite spinnerbaits, plastics and lures with the same results, no bass!! We did manage to catch 4 pickeral in the lake but it was too rough there for the POP 07. I was really looking forward to posting some pictures of bass exploding on this lure, but it is just too late here for topwater bass action with the weeds all gone and the near freezing water. I am willing to forward this lure to someone in a warmer climate who would also like to try it out. You would have to agree to also do a report on the lure and return it to me by April 2012. Thanks for reading my report and sorry I didnt get any pics of it in a fishes mouth. Cheers Casey ( I will now try and attach a few pictures)

I tested the rippn rap 5 silver and blue I tested the lure in four of my sure to catch spots for golden perch and i caught donuts! (I knew that would happen as soon as i thought it ) the rattle the lure emits is incredible when ripped i could hear it from about fifteen meters away, it's enough it piss any fish off. it has a grate swimming action and also found it hard to get snagged (not that i was trying ) when casting at submerged trees and rocks. My thoughts of this lure are that it will give all the Japanese rattling lures a run for there money (the main competition is the Jackall bros NT range here in Oz, which are dynamite) for three reasons 1. It matches the rattle emitted when retrieved 2. It is just about snag proof 3. It costs halve as much This is a lure I will definitely continue to fish maybe in a bigger size and a different color Pictuers are still on there way

I've been out a couple time's now with the rippin rap 7 and have yet to catch a bass on it...! It's a little heavier than I like in a trap but has some killer rattle when ripped and cranked fast.. This thing will sink like a rock if you let it sit still for too long. Actually my first cast I got it hung on something and thought I was going to lose the joker. Luckily it came unbuttoned. I've caught 4 jack's (pikes) and 1 gar on it so far. Sorry lost my memory card on my phone so no pick's yet.. Im going to give it a few more tries before I give a full review of it. You guy's up north will love it for toothy critter's though, seem's to really attract them...

Had to slap some different paint on my rippin rap. I think this joker will catch them down here in FL now! Threadfin shad should do the trick.. I'm hitting the water after thanksgiving and will get a good review on how it catches them... 'Really crappy pic's, still using my phone until I get a new camera'.... Look's killer in person..

Today I finally caucht something with the given Rapala Rippin Rap Chrome. The lure is a well balanced rattling lure and is very loud, even under the surface. A perfect lure for when the going gets tuff and the fish won't bite often. With my first cast I ran into this pike of 75 cm and didn't want to give me my lure back. Here's a pic. Thanks for the lure and I will fish it more often during the summertime. Eric

Well, I just lost my ULM 6, so I guess it's as good a time as any to post my review!!! Swimming after lures in cold water just isn't really my thing(although I did consider it for a while). Just have to get my pics and videos in order!! I should have it done by tonight, but if not tomorrow!!!

I have had quite a while to test out the new Ultra Light Minnow 6, and have to say that I like the lure much more than I thought I would!!
For being such a small lure, it casts quite well on light line(I used 6lb). It runs at about 2ft below the surface, which worked well for the shallow water I usually fish!!!
There were a few things about the lure I didn't like. One was that it sinks, but that only bothers me in terms of getting snagged, and has nothing to do with it's fish catching ability. The only real problem I have with the ULM is that it has relatively no wobble at all when moved at a really slow speed. When sped up, the action is fine, but as far as slow presentations go, this lure is not your best option!!
The main thing I do like about this lure, is the one thing that really matters, it catches fish!!! There was not a single time I used it where I wasn't successful. If you are fishing shallow water, and feel like a smaller presentation is the way to go, give this little lure a try!! You may end up pleasantly surprised, I know I was!!!
Here's a video I threw together of my experiences with it!!
