So I found a scale tool combo from Rapala at Target for $11.99 on sale.so picked it up. It has a hook scale with which I thought was great because I really did not try to measure or weight any fish all last year. So I'm looking at the scale and trying to figure how to use with out wrecking the fish??

If you are going to release the fish alive - it may be better to take a length, a girth and a photo! It's also a good idea for always keeping the fish wet - for instance in the net - when you "record" it!

Either use a knotless mesh net or a proper weigh sling to hook onto your scales and no harm should come to the fish.

Good points roeroe - I have seen the bass guys use some type of plastic "sleeve" bags that hang from the hook! Didn't look like they would handle pike, catfish or the kind of fish that Beka catches! LOL

I'm glad I asked, I had envisioned something much different.
