I was reading the latest issue of BASS this weekend and one of the advertisement pages was about these new 8 colors Mike have designed... some of the colors are Penguin, Blue Back Herring, Demon, Caribbean Shad, Smash and Old School. I tried to google the colors, but I didn't find anything.... All colors look great, can't wait to see them. I don't even know if rapala will be listing them on their webpage... Any ideas?

Hmm they don't seem as interesting as they sound, and they don't look that much different than already available colors

Yes, they look very sure set to me!! but for lakes with large populations of shad, most of those colors are killer.

I agree, none are wildly different, but as a complete set would display pretty cool. Possible special packaging? What do you guys think? Has there been a sighting yet???

Thanks for posting the link to the video! Kind of interesting trying to market new "faded" lures The glitter finish does look good, though, and wasn't apparent in the Bassmaster ad.

After watching the video, I love the dark green crawdad, but why are these not offered in the fat series?

Yeah - I'd love to see some of those colors in floaters too!
It's probably because of the math - 8 colors times 6 sizes equals 48 New products. If they came out with them in the flats - just think of the additional #'s of lures.
Still love the DT's - one of my favorite bass crankbaits!

nice find ospray, yeah they show them there, but available in march maybe. they also show sizes up to 16, no 18 or 20, so still waiting on definates on those three sizes. it wont be long, and they will be everywhere. $6.50 seems pretty reasonable, wonder where that will land on release also.

a good price, for european standards lol. If they were available here, they would be around the same as all the other good selling new rapala lures: €10-13,-. But this is only for US market I guess. Too bad they don't share everything the smae in each country, for colors, special editions etc. Would be a lot of fun for the Rapala fisherman in each country

Great questions, John! I ordered a few, so I'll try and get a picture posted when they arrive. I'm guessing there will be a special sticker or something but the rest of the box and packaging will be the same.

It also probably explains why the series has been hugely expanded into the Flat, Fat, & THUG series as well. I'm hoping they eventually expand these colors onto the FAT series too, hopefully.

It looks like these are starting to show up on eBay. In looking a at the pictures, there doesn't seem to be much different about the boxes from other DTs, other than maybe the inside sides of the boxes have a white background instead of black???
I have some of these ordered, but they haven't made it to me yet.

I hope these patterns eventually make their way into the FAT too!! The video for the DT flats claims that the "metallic paint scale" pattern on those colors was specially designed for "the maximum amount of contrast." They also talk about somewhat muted colors. That sounds alot like 6 of the 8 colors Ike designed.
Personally, I don't think that metallic scale pattern really matters much, or at least isn't much more effective than any of the other types of patterns. I have a few of the FATs in some of the more traditional patterns like Perch, Firetiger and GFR, and the fish don't seem to mind at all.
I would love to see the FATs come in Shad, Baby bass, and all of the craw patterns (not the boring ass versions of CW and RCW). I mean, if you can take a BB pattern mixed with the colors of a CPS, and throw it on a FAT 1, then would it be a stretch to just make a FAT 3 in Baby Bass!!
