bja, good to see another brit here and collector, like you i love salmon fishing, what do you collect ? Goodness i have around 250+ rapalas of all differant types from original floaters, cds, hjs' jointed , skitterpops and walks , shads and most of the xraps, especially like the long casts and the esko models, looking forward to getting a hold of some of the new models just coming on the scene especially the max raps, look superb hopefully they will be great for the salmon over here. The gfr colour is especially good over here for the salmon named the carrot!!! great in peat stained water. Mainly fish with the floaters, cds hjs and xraps for the salmon, have you or anyone on the site had or tried the skitter pops for the salmon?

Hi all BJA here, just stumbled across this site, superb top class! I am 45 yrs old, mad on both collecting and using rapala lures, been collecting them for 6 years now and have a good stash. I live in the UK, in the North East, Newcastle to be exact, i mainly fish the river Tyne for Salmon, but also venture over the borders now and again, also do a bit of pike fishing when the salmon seasons finished. Hopefully i will be able to share some photos and more with you all in due course, and gain some useful info from the members, glad to be here. BJA Hello! Welcome aboard to the best internationional fishing community on the web! One thing I love about Rapalas myself is they traverse across all boundaries and all languages. If there's anything you need don't hesitate to ask myself or anyone else here.

Hi, My name is Bill. I live in Ohio and fish the western basin of erie and it's tribs. I fish for smallies, largemouth and walleye. I love crankbait fishing and own quite a few but one of my favorites is a shad rap. Hope I can contribute to the site, it looks great!

Well i thought i had done this last summer, but i just ran through everyone's introductions, and didn't see mine. so apparently i didnt. My name is Josh i'm 28 and i live in south jersey. i work construction, but not too steadily lately. every day not working is an extra chance to fish so i dont get too upset, except that i cant afford all the fishing gear i crave!!!! i am not married, but have a girlfriend of four plus years, who has become a decent fisherwoman (is that a word???) in her own right. She definitely enjoys watching me obsess over fishing 24/7 and then showing me up down at the lake. I just attribute it to a having good teacher. i probably fish 5 to 7 days a week when it's warm enough, even if only 4 an hour or so, i get out as much as i can. usually its only at my tiny local lake. i have no truck, but often youll see me walking my little jonboat down the street with my homemade wheel setup strapped to the bottom. its only a short walk, but me crossing the somewhat busy road in front of the lake always gets a couple laughs from passing drivers. whatever it takes ya know!!! i have what i thought was alot of rapalas until i got here!!! i like to try to catch bass with as many different rapalas as i can. i have around 110 and have caught fish with about 75 of them. i fish shallow often, because thats all i can get to most of the time, so i really like alot of the shallow rapalas. last year i really fell in love with the dt flat 3, but also use alot of originials, jointeds x-raps and skitter pops. i love 2 fish, i love rapalas, therefore i have obviously fallen in love with this site. keep up the good work fellas!!!!

Hey everyone! I'm Ryan. I am 20 and live here in south Texas. Fishing has just started to become part of my life. I used to be 100% about soccer / futbol. Due to knee dislocations and other injuries, I started to fish! I think fishing with my grandfather when I was little inspired me. I'm a full time college student. I am doing a double major of Accounting & Finance. Takes up quite a bit of time. I customize fishing lures on eBay. (My link is up under the eBay thread). My first Rapala collection is of Shad Raps #5. I posted a picture of my collection also but it keeps growing every week. I'll have to keep it updated. I live a few miles down the road from a Bass Pro Shop and Cabelas, and I spend a lot of time in them... Any questions or even help with my Shad Rap collection (always looking for the "specials" just send me a pm.
Thanks, -bulldog21

Josh,Ryan; glad to have you guys on board, it's nice to have some young blood on here, since there is quite a few 'oldsters' on here! The one thing I love about these things is that they transcend & blur the lines between country, race, age, etc - we're all just fishermen. It'll be a long boring winter, feel free to settle in here for the duration!

hey ryan i know how ya feel. i used to play sports non stop but i blew my knee out too. the worst part about is i did it laughing!! i jumped up in the air, came down, and haven't been the same since. fishing was also a hobby of mine but since then its nonstop. fishing is just as exciting as any contact sport, plus no referees!!!!

Thanks guys. Yeah they really are a bummer, especially in the cold! Just gotta look past it I guess. I am just excited for spring to come to get back out on the water without the cold weather!

I fractured my Tibia Plateau years ago playing football. It happened just like Joe Theisman's injury.I have had 8 surgeries since then and it still is a pain in my ass. Hey Steve, it appears to me you need a competent physical therapist. Take a vacation and a direct flight into my praxis....i will fix you up and then we arrest some german pikes.... How do you like that?

Okay, lets see if this works... Hello... My name is Shaun...a.k.a. Kraytwin I only fish ponds here in the Dallas, TX area, actually never even fished a lake or from a boat. Live in Garland, Work in Carrollton. For a while, when I was learning to fish I worked at my local "Dallas Sports" the Plano location(each towns name was in front of the 'Sports"). It was there that my love of Rapala was born. While there the majority of my fishing equipment was, well, appropriated shall we say. My most favorite and now discontinued Shallow Fat Rap 5. I have just about three of every color originally made. And yes I still fish them. The nice gold, a discontinued color has quite a few bass teeth marks all over that sucker. Now I'm learning to love the DT-04, and I'm a bit wary of the giant DTFAT-01. Just seem to crazy big for ponds. Anyway, drop me a line some time, hehehehe. Oh and I've got some of those old discontinued Rapala spoons, that I never use, if you've got something to trade...I'm listening.

Seriously if you're using them for bass which I would think you are, the size of the bait is still considerably smaller than the opening of their mouth... so if it will fit, they will hit it! And welcome aboard!
