Hey everyone! Well I figure maybe its time we have a way for everyone to get to know each other a little better. Post a picture if you want so we all know what you look like! Include stuff like what you do for a living, if you're married with kids, favorite hobbies, sports, movies, music, tv, or whatever! Feel feel to tell as much or as little stuff about you as you wish... And on that note, I guess I'm on the clock... Anyway, my name is Ted, I live in northern New Jersey, and have lived here my entire life. I'm pretty sure that's nothing to brag about. In December I just turned 40 but I guess I certainly don't act it. I've been married for 13 years and have two girls, ages 6 and 4. My 'real job' consists of testing internet applications for a large Fortune 500 company. Luckily in my group no one was laid off this year, but we don't get increases in 2009 I know some html and image editing, it's more of a hobby more than anything else. Altho as much works as it's been, it has been kinda fun overhauling this site and making it look better. My other interests (outside of fishing & Rapalas, obviously) include gardening, following the New York Jets & New York Rangers - I love football & hockey, the only true 'man's man' sports left. When I am not on here I am killing time on my PlayStation 3 - I have been playing Fallout 3 since December pretty much exclusively. And that's pretty much the book on me - my age says I'm 40, but my wife thinks I act like I'm 17 sometimes, LOL. Here's some pics from over the summer, fishing at my Dad's place with my girls... And my daughter's very first bass ;D

Alright Ted, hopefully this gets things going a little. My name is Matt and I have lived in west Michigan all of my life. I just turned 27 this month. I recently changed jobs and now am doing road construction building bridges. I used to play softball in the summer, but my job prevents me from doing so this year. I am kind of bummed, but at least I'm working. I love to hunt and fish. I hunt a lot for whitetail deer and turkey. When I'm fishing, its usually for Walleye or Largemouth Bass.I spend most of my free time doing these things and collecting lures. When I'm not hunting, fishing, or looking for lures to add to my collection, I like to play XBOX 360...mostly Halo 3. I am not married....yet, but am starting to feel the pressure. I'm starting to get subtle hints thrown at me from time to time, which I guess I can handle. Here are a couple of pictures from the last couple of years.

Hey Matt, Awesome, nice job, thanks for posting that! My wife is fortunate I really only have fishing, and not hunting to deal with. I spend enough on that anyway - If she's making the push, make sure she knows all this up front, which Im sure she does, the next thing they'll want to start doing is curtailing what you're doing and where you're going... At least my wife knows that I don't leave the house when the Jets are on, ever.

Here we go,my name is Steve and I have lived in the U.P. of Michigan all my life with the exception of 8 years in the U.S. Army. I'am 35 years old and married with 2 kids a daughter that is 11 and a son who is 8. I love fishing for anything that swims but have a passion for Muskie.Right off my back porch is the Bay of Green Bay which is part of Lake Michigan making it hard not to fish everyday LOL.If it wasn't for the honey do list I probably would fish everyday until hunting season. Also love hunting for whitetails and turkeys. When I'am not fishing or hunting I like to paint fishing lures and be a pain in my wifes rear end. Also learning to speak the German language which is not the easiest thing in the world to do.Hard to teach an old dog new tricks I would also like to thank my friend Wolfgang for letting me know about this great website Also a HUGE thanks to Ted for creating and making this a GREAT place to spend time learning about and talking about RAPALA'S Here are a few pictures from last year. The first picture is a Salmon that I caught trolling. The second picture is of Green Bay taken from my backyard, and the third picture is of the buck I shot with my longbow last year. wimg.co.uk/0BDFcR.jpg[/im

I would get nothing done if that were me...my dream is to have a lakefront someday...so I can sit on the dock at night, getting hammered and fishing for catfish...

Hi! My name is João "John" Neves, I'm 21 years old and I'm from Póvoa de Santa Iria, in northern Lisbon, Portugal. ;D I enjoy fishing, driving, cooking, being with my friends at the pub and a finely poured pint of Guinness! (me enjoying said pint! Sorry fellas, I didn't take any pictures on my last fishing trip, as soon as I do I'll post some "action shots" here!) Here's my little slice of heaven. Pego do Altar reservoir, near Alcácer do Sal in southern Portugal. My grandfather lives there and he took me fishing for the first time. I've only discovered bass fishing fairly recently so I'm still learning!

John & Mark,
Thank you so much for taking the time to post!
I think it's really important for everyone to get to know everyone, at least on a certain degree, so we know where everyone is from, and more importantly what they fish for!
John what types of bass inhabit your area? I'm primarily a bass fisherman myself, and Im just curious what bass species live there.
Thanks again for posting!

Hi Fishooked I too am primarily a bass fisherman Where I fish there is only largemouth bass. Further south, in Alqueva, there's largemouth, Florida largemouth and pike. Bass was only introduced in mainland Portugal about 60 years ago, and the best places to fish are down in the south. ;D PS.: I forgot to tell you guys how I got here. It all started back in 04/05 when me and another friend started talking about bass fishing, because we saw a tv show with Mr. Jaime Sacadura, a well known Portuguese bass fisherman. I got in contact with Mr. Sacadura and he gave me a few pointers to start. We bought a couple of Rapala Original Floaters and I did a little research on the lure. I saw the ads, the history behind it, and started to really like the company as a whole. It's brilliant! Since then about 75% of my tackle box (including the tacklebox itself) is from Rapala!

Wow I didn't know they were only recently introduced.
Well if you need any advice, let me know some of my favorites for bass are anything in gold or silver, usually a F-13 or SSR-8 or SSR-9

Hi, Lyubo here - I used to fish a good 300 trips a year but no go these days I have a 2 year old daugter and she took a dip even the first time I took her fishing LOL made daddy proud. My education background from Bulgaria is in Environmental Engineering - never pursued it here in the US. Jack of all trades - worked in agricultural harvesting in the UK - managed retail stores here in wisconsin and down in Florida - now I work at Sundara Spa as a massage therapist and this is by far the most laid back job I have known virtually zero stress. I run European Touch on eBay where We vend snacks... for the fish! worldwide and supply a few local tackle stores in the Dells. Thanks to Ted, for contacting me about this awesome network.

Casey, Good deal - that getreeled.com site seems pretty cool, kinda like a fishing version of Facebook. Lyubo, about how old are you if you dont mind me asking? Your signature makes it look like you are a much older man, lol! 2 year old, eh? Yeah, my two girls were the sole reason I was on fishing hiatus for a very long time. They are 6 & 4 now, and its much easier for one of us to watch them, since they keep each other busy. And that frees me up for more fishing time

Just registered, I do love rapala's I am in North Carolina in Fayetteville. Love to fish and never catch anything,. lol. I am the exception to the old saying .. Give a man a fish and he eats for a day, teach him to fish and he eats for a lifetime. Well I am better off being given the fish. But I do not let that stop me. I should have made my login name Hungry fisherman.
Peace

I love fishing too, but I am the last one to profess being any good at it either.
I sure have plenty of lures though...that has to count for something I guess!
By the way, how'd you find the place?

Hi everybody, I have just been reading what several members had to tell about themselves and because I have just 20 minutes left before I have to join a party, I'll give your guys some information about this Pike Ferret. I am almost 66 years old but feel young, am married this year 40 years, 2 daughters and one son plus 3 x 2 grandchildren so everything is fine in the family. As a sportfishing journalist and consultant for fishing tackle companies I can tell my wife I go to work when I go fishing. Have fished 62 years now and caught my first pike when I was 11 years old on a livebait. Love spinfishing for pike the most and have caught pikes in 19 different countries and more than 1000 pikes over the dreamlimit of 100 cm, one meter and my longest one was 131 cm and skinny with 14,7 kilos. Have fished a lot in the very north of Canada and the best place for big pike is the Taltson River and the area where it drains into Great Slave Lake, will go there again on the 6th of June. Have written articles for many magazines and my record is the publication of an article about the biggest pikes of the world that was published 16 times. Was and my be still am European consultant of The In-Fisherman and Doug, Al, Ron and other staff members were and still are good friends. Was European consultant for companies like Berkley, Mepps, fished a lot with my good friends Todd and Mike Sheldon, Zebco, Rapala. Lowrance and still work with some smaller companies now for I have travelled enough to Fishing Tackle Shows all over the world. Am working on a new book, about the biggest pikes of the world, and it has to be ready the end of 2010. Love to fish for pike in my Dutch home waters and guide guests in fall and winter for I am also responsible for the promotion and marketing of a nice fishing resort with 270 bungalows on the water, just look at www.vlietlanden.nl . Much more to tell but my watch tells me it is time to stop and know I hope to write more contributions for this excellent website in the future, best regards Jan Eggers PS You must have seen enough pics of me in the various magazines...

Hey Everybody,
My name is Al and I'm 45 years old. I live in New Brunswick, Canada, although I'm originally from the island of Newfoundland. I'm an aquaculture technician at a commercial salmon hatchery, and I live to fish in the summer. When I started going out with my wife 6 years ago I warned her that she was going to be a fishing widow. She's ok with that; going to the river is better that running around the streets or in bars.
I have a B.Sc. in Envirinmental Biology from Memorial University of Newfoundland and a trade in electronics from Conestoga College in Kitchener, Ontario. I also served in the Air Force back in the 80s as groundcrew in 410 Cougars, Canada's first CF-18 squadron.
Until I moved here to New Brunswick in 2000 I had never fished with a Rapala, and now it's one of my two favorite baits, the other one being flies. I've been tying my own for 5 years now, and I make a few bucks on the side selling them. This year I've started making wooden lures and I'm tryingh to get them out around as well. I'll probably start selling them more aggressively next year.
I haven't been around this site much yet since we are shipping our fish out to the sea cages now and I'm getting lots of overtime. I'll be looking around a bit here and there as time passes, so I look forward to meeting up with you all.
Al.

Hello to everyone,
My name is Jeremy and I am am 32 years old. I grew up in Iowa and moved with my wife to Minnesota about 5 years ago. We now have 2 children 2yrs (daughter) 3month (son). Hope they like to fish. Growing up (until I met my wife) I loved to fish, hunt, and trap. I got into walleye tournaments when I was 19 and had fished them up to last year. I had a work injury and have been off of work for almost 2yrs. I lost most of the movement and strength in my left shoulder. I am hopeful that I can return to tournaments someday. I have used Rapala's for years as I love to troll them. My collection is all used for fishing. I have started learning the art of custom painting.
Hope everyone here loves this site as much as I do. Great job, Ted.
Jeremy

I can imagine that a shoulder injury and trying to cast must be a major bitch. Is there permanent damage, is your range of motion limited, etc?

Hey Jeremy, Well that sucks I've kinda been in your shoes on this one, except I didn't mess up my shoulder.I fractured my Tibual Plateau playing football.I had to use crutches for 3 months Trying to get into a boat was damn near impossible Not being able to do things you used to be able to do is REALLY frustrating Anyway I hope you get back into the swing of things soon. Take care Steve
