Hi all.. I'm Rhie, I'm from Indonesia. Hope my english isn't too bad hehehehe. btw, Im a single and work as goverment officer in safety transportation department. So glad to join here with all rapalanation around the world. Fishing is my hobby since i was in elementary school but as a kid I just do fishing with traditional method. Now, its been 4 years since I have my very first lure, even I dont know the name of that lure, a gift from my friend. at that time I even dont know casting fishing method. as time goes by, that lure was abadoned. and one day when I open internet and see the casting method for fishing, I was excited and in my mind there's one big question : is this thing same with my lure? and it is possible for this thing used for fishing in my place who have very different species compared in USA. I must try this! I went to tackle shop and buy some stuff. One day I went to a lake and cast all the way. whoooww... a snakehead striking my lure. And that was my first fish, my first experience and my very happy moment doing fishing. After that i go back at home, checking internet and find out the lure that i have is RAPALA. yes rapala x-rap XR08 rainbow trout. Then... rapala become my choice even its hard to find this lure in my own town. Thanks to rapala, thanks to my friend who giving this rapala as a special gift Hi Rhie, I heard a lot about snakeheads for being good fighters. Is that true? I have eaten them but haven't fished them yet.

I hope by joining this group, I can learn some tips and tehniques and use Rapala lures more often. Btw, I am looking into getting myself the Husky Jerk HJ6 or 8 for trout. Do you have any suggestion on what size and color for trout and bass? or any other type of lures? I am eyeing on the Xrap Xtreme action slashbait XR06 or XR08. thanks much! Welcome!! Don't know much about using them for trout, but I love the xr8 for bass. I've used a ton of different colors successfully, but really like the perch, clown, and of course silver!! I like the x-rap's versatility. You can straight retrieve it, twitch it to give it that darting action, and pause it a second to let it suspend. I can't count how many times I've gotten a hit right on or after the pause. Just keep switching up your retrieve until you find what is working in that spot that particular day!!

Don't know much about the countdown. All I know is that it is supposed to sink at a rate of 1 ft. per second, so if you are fishing in 6 ft. of water, wait approximately 6 seconds and it should be near the bottom. I'm sure some members with more countdown experience would be able to help you more with retrieval techniques and things like that. No matter what rapala you need info on, someone here can help!!!

Hi Ted, My name is Hans, I live in Southern California and love to fish whenever I can. I mainly fish for trout in the local pond and lakes, mostly from the shoreline. So far I've had only 2 Rapalas and haven't used them very often. Mostly using spoons and inline spinners. Welcome! Well, I dont do as much trout fishing as I used to - and I sure dont know anything about fishing in California, but I do know about fishing from shore. I'm assuming these lakes are probably deeper than your average lake, considering they're holding trout? If it were me, I would get lures that would give you the best casting distance without going too large. HJs work well, but you may not be able to get much distance on them, the same size XRap will probably go farther. Countdowns up to size 7 are a good choice, you basically just count them down to 1 foot per second. Also the new Flat Rap in size8 casts surprisingly well too, and even the new Clackin Rap in size 6 is worth a try - will definitely cast like a rocket! Good luck and welcome aboard!

Thank you for the tips Ted,
The local lake is small and not deep at all, maybe 10-15ft deep only. In the summer it turns into Catfish lake and wild bass lake.
I'll look at the BPS for the Flat Rap.

The trout manage to survive the summer? Are you more located in the northern part of the state? Around here trout would never survive the summers unless they had 20' holes to hang out in...

I live in the Southern California and trout don't survive here in the summer specially not in the lake where I fish. Some of the lakes here are in the 6000ft altitude and deep but still we have to troll for them. The lake that I fish will turn into a catfish lake in the summer until October when they start to stock the trout again. Basically, I am in the 2 weeks to fish for them as the temperature here is already in the lower 80 fahrenheit. There is a lake in Northern California that I really enjoyed to fish for trout, salmon and smallies called Lake Almanor. Good fishing there.

Oh ok so its stocked then - that makes sense. When I was a kid they used to stock this pond in the park near my house with trout for the annual 'fishing contest' for kids. Of course the pond was only 4 feet deep all the way around, by June whatever trout were left were turtle food...

Hello. Coming from a Polish and I am a new user. Fishing is my passion and hobby. I would like to meet new people who will teach me new ways of catching fish on wobblers and other bait. Catching only Rapala wobblers company because they have a great job and look / I often fall prey to the sum and pike, pike-perch less. I greet all those who read my message, breaking a stick because it speaks to us

Hello, Im John from Alberta Canada. For the longest time I thought Rapalas were primarily just for Bass, But then I saw people here were using them in the river and catching monster Rainbows. I am really looking forward to start collecting "Countdowns".

hi , the countdown is one of the most used trout/salmon lures in the uk, as for collecting , the countdown must be one of the most varied models out there as far as colours go, a good one to collect, what size were you thinking ? i love the countdown for both collecting and to use on the river.

Well, its good to know that the Facebook page is finally pulling it's weight and bringing some new people in! I agree on the the Thugs - its kind of a shame that some of the others that dont have as many votes look so much better in person too. Hopefully those guys will gain a lot more fans & have a bigger following as a result!
