Wow what a site! I have been a Rapala fan for years but just found this place. My favorite Rapala is still the Risto Rap. Hoarded several of them up after they were discontinued, particularly the #5's. Good to see some great custom painters around as well. I paint a few of my own but not to the level I have already seen around here.

Im hoping that our love of Rapalas is just our starting off point, and hoping this becomes everyone's favorite fishing site as well - welcome aboard!!! PS - I wish I had hoarded up all those Risto Raps when I kept seeing them in the bargain bins - it figures they get popular again after they stop making them!

Hey guys. Great job with the site Ted. My name is Chris. I am 23, 24 in a day, and currently a college student in central Minnesota. When I'm not doing school stuff or at the gym there's a good bet I'm probably on the water. I spend most of my time in the spring fishing for cats and carp, and summer fishing for smallies. In the fall I will be fishing for smallies, walleye, and northern. And finally during the hardwater season I go after anything that is biting. Cats are the best through the ice.
Any other free time I usually spend playing modern warfare 2 on ps3.
Not the most interesting life, but I enjoy it.

Hi and Have you ever tried crankbaits for cats? I keep meaning to find the time to get a couple of days together and head up north to the Sea of Galilee to try some rattlin raps and skitter pops. Soon, soon!

Hello!
My name is Pavel. Fishing is my passion, especially trout fishing, but I hunt for all of predators. I come from Bydgoszcz, Poland and my favourite river is Brda which flows through my town. Full of big perch, chub, trout, and sometimes pike. I live just a five minutes walk from it and there was not a single day without a cath!
To all of you (as we say in Poland): brake your rod!...
...on a big fish ofcourse

Hello All, My name is Kevin and I to am a fishaholic I am a 46 year old Field Service Engineer with a major medical manufacturer with a strong emphasis on "field" I reside in Denver, CO, but cover from Montana to Texas and drive at least 50-60000 miles a year minimum. I always carry a couple travel type rods with me and stop whenever I can along my journeys to drop a line here and there. I am a huge Rapala fan.....Husky Jerks and X Raps are a permanent part of my traveling arsenal. I came to CO from FL and miss the saltwater REALLY bad. I saw Fishing_in_Israels pic of a nice Mangrove Snapper and almost booked a trip to FL that day. I have been happily married for 23 years, have 2 children (1 in college, the other graduates HS this weekend), own 2.5 dogs (the .5 is a Chihuahua/Mini Dachshund mix that belongs to my daughter but thinks he owns me). I am not a collector but do have a few specials from 2004, 2005 that I have kept nice in their boxes. I just have a passion for fishing I can't seem to satisfy. My first experience with a Rapala goes back to 1974 in Northern Michigan when I was 10 and my new step- dad bought me my first tackle box that had any thing besides hooks, sinkers, and bobbers. It had a small selection of some Mepps spinners, a couple flatfish, a couple spoons, and a minnow looking lure that I couldn't resist tying on and casting. First cast....first Smallie and I still have that lure to this day. My biggest fish since moving to CO was a 13 lbs Brownie I caught while down in Durango and of course I didn't have my flyrod with me. I went by the local Wal-Mart, bought a couple Husky Jerks in both Rainbow and Brown Trout patterns and had a great day with 4 fish over 7 lbs and the biggest Brownie I have ever landed. Proves they eat things bigger than a hair-eared nymph ;D

Just wanted to say hi, My name is Drew... Live in Pittsburgh.
I am a Rapala fanatic, and it is truly amazing that I didnt find this site sooner. i am still getting used to how everything on the site works but figured I would post to qualify for the give aways. I got about 100 various Raps... but my favorite has to be the X-Rap. I dont know if it is the holographic finish, the feather tail, or the classic Rapala wounded minnow action (or all three) but something about the X-Rap drives those big bass wild.
The most amazing thing I have ever seen a Rapala perform??? Well, this past first day of trout season in PA my little brother pulled out 2 huge Palamino Trout back to back within the first half hour of the day. He did this on a size 3 Floating Rapala. Before that day he didn't fish much, but now let's just say he is hooked!
Happy to be on-board and good luck out there!

Welcome aboard Kevin, Pavel, and Drew!! You have certainly come to the right place for all things Rapala. Feel free to ask anything you want, and prepare to be blown away by the vast array of rapala knowledge here!! I know I was!! I have to agree with you guys on the X-rap. I fell in love with it a few years ago, and now have every color I can get my hands on, and have had great success with most of them!!(Yes fellas, even the hot pink )

Just registered a day or so ago, real name is Rocco, hence the "rocfish". I am a high school biology teacher, used to coach football & baseball (13 years), but gave up the coaching part to spend more time with my 7 year old daughter. Don't fish as often as I'd like to, only 2 or 3 serious fishing trips a year, but go out casually for an hour or two occasionally to the river that I live 2 blocks away from. Addicted to bass as well as Rapalas. My favorite haunt for summertime bass action is Kentucky Lake. Own a Ranger fish & ski that I inherited upon my father's passing 2 years ago, God bless him- he got me into fishing and the outdoors in the first place. Since giving up the football & baseball, I have since started a Bass Fishing Club at the high school I work at. As the sponsor/coach, we have competed for the last 2 years in our state's (IL) high school sanctioned fishing tournament, the only one of its kind in the country if I'm not mistaken. It's been exciting seeing it start from scratch, and it keeps me involved in a limited capacity with extracurriculars (we only meet once a month, with the tournament being 2 weekends in the spring), we're small, but the kids involved are die-hards and really enjoy it. My favorite part of my limited summer school responsibilites is the opportunity to spend quality time with my daughter & wife, my little girl has been fishing in some capacity since she was 2 years old, she loves the outdoors, catching and holding fish, hiking trails to spot deer and other wildlife, catching frogs, butterflies and other creatures. I hope the spark stays with her as she grows. p.s. - What about the T-shirt model introducing herself? (just kidding, but it is distracting seeing the ads over and over again - I love distractions)

New member today and just a quick hello. I am selling fishing product on eBay and a couple stand alone web sites. I am trying to get a feel for the value of Rapala lures that have been discontinued. Any suggestions would be appreciated. I have over 800 Rapala lures to sell. Cheers, David in Colorado

All of us are always looking for them - if you need help or advice, just ask. Chances are the ended prices will tell you the market value, but Fat Raps and Shallow Fat Raps (got any? ) always sell well. What types do you have? I could always use more lures in my store too....welcome aboard!

Howdy ya'll, my name is Anthony, I'm 37 years old and live in Newport News VA with my beautiful wife, 7yr old daughter and 5 yr old son. I work for the local cable company and I like to read, hang out with the family and fish. I've also been a loyal citizen of the Steeler Nation since 1979. I was born and raised in far Southwest Va where I cut my teeth on trout, rockbass and smallmouth bass. Pulled a hitch in the Navy and then returned to VA where I met my wife and developed a life-long love affair with the James River and its awesome Smallmouth and Musky fishing. Was transferred to the eastern end of the state in '08 and I've been learning how to fish for Largemouth. I have a 5acre lake right out the backdoor that is full of Largemouth, Chain Pickeral, big yellow perch and crappie, so I haven't been going anywhere to fish in the last year or so, but I'm still lucky enough that I live within two hours of the fall line of three different rivers so I'm able to get my lotic fix when necessary. Lake fishing is okay, but I prefer to be on the river as much as possible. This is an awesome site and I'm going to enjoy being a member.
