Howdy to all yall that has the dreaded Rapalaitis, a secondary condition to Fishus-Lureus-Itis. I fish small streams for Smallmouth, Panfish, and hope for a Muskie. I have around 100 Rapala lures and am now looking at buying more as an interest in collecting and using them. Great place you got here. *jerkbait*

Hello, My name is Sébastien. I live in the center of France and fish with rapala since let's say 30 years. I am not a real collector because i use it and take them all in my fishing box. Sometime i have to take some out to put new ones! I like looking at those small color lures ; One day i will start to collect them seriously. But at the moment i prefer using it. I will make a few photos of the ones i think that are rare or unusuals. In France the unusual colors may be different from USA so may be you are going to be disappointed. My favourite: risto rap 5 silver blue (and the same in 4 i dare not taking out of the box) the ones i do not understand: downdeep husky jerk yesterdays caughts on : xrap jointed 14 gold and shadrap 9 firetiger Thank you for the site seb Uploaded with ImageShack.usThose 2 books were printed in 1984. this very special rapala is a countdown , it was made 500 pieces for a game . the "book" declic pêche made a game . they sended 500 personns a white bare rapala you painted it the winner ( not me ) have seen his rapala issued in 500 pieces for the people who took part. i have also the white one unpainetd but not found it. ( around 1989) Uploaded with ImageShack.us big sinking shadraps what a mess!URL=http://img140.imageshack.us/i/rapala003.jpg/] [/URL] Uploaded with [URL=http://imageshack one box is somewhere... i have a risto 4 plum ( near white) and a countdown 7 violet in . Hi all, Name's Chris Elliott and I live close to Norris Dam in E. Tennessee. 67 yrs. young and been fishing most all my life so far. love to fish for all species around here but my real passion is tournament bass fishing. Been fishing tourneys since the early 1960s and still at it. Rapalas have always been one of my "go-to" lures through all those years. Looking forward to getting to know all here and sharing, also learning too. I will try to participate as much as I can but my beautiful wife of 45yrs.is critically ill just now and that will be my focus. She is my first priority now as always. BTW-Your prayers are coveted that Gods' Will be done, whatever it is. As for me, I'm praying for a Healing Miracle!!!!
May God Bless All

Hi all, somehow missed this thread despite already posting a little on RN and even doing a deal with another member today!
I'm Elliott, 39 and from Horsham in England (40 miles south of London). I'm single and work as a consultant in the food industry as a food safety specialist mainly, but also provide management and sourcing support too. My main areas of expertise is (unsurprisingly!) in the fish industry but I also work in the meat and fresh produce sectors too.
I'm a fan of Ipswich Town football club, opera, quiet storm and classical music as well as being absorbed by military history (WW1 mostly).
When not pursuing these interests, I fish for all of the main predators in the UK - pike, zander (a little bit), perch and wels catfish. I also have a regular client in Dubai so fish in the Arabian Gulf every February for the cobia, hamour, kingfish and spanish mackerel that these waters hold. It is my hope to get down to Oman for my 40th next year and test myself against some GT's!
I used to be a bit of a collector, but a recent chat with a well known angler over here convinced me otherwise. I was discussing not being able to find a particular rod and he said "Fishing tackle is just a tool". It hit home and now I use what I have rather than sit and look at it! - I sold lots of lures and now have a (growing again!) selection of lures suited to my waters only - not a collection based on how nice they look in the box or in the catalogue! This site doesn't help in that regard!
My most productive Rapalas are Magnums - floating for the Pike and CD for the Arabian Gulf species. I will be experiementing with the new (to me) shallow magnums this year and think they will be great for our shallower UK venues.

Hello everyone. My name is Carlos and I'm 19 (almost 20) years old.
I live in Colombia, South America and as you can imagine I love fishing! I only practice fishing with lures like spinners and hard baits cause here in my country the soft plastics are not commonly used.
I like very much Rapala and think is the best lure maker ever, when you got in a difficult fishing situation with no bitting fishes, put a Rapala on your line and you'll get some action, that's for sure.
I'm an electronic engeneering student who enjoys a lot a fishing day with dad and my brother... well I don't know what else I can say about me.
Thanks for allow me to become a member

Hi, I neglected to introduce myself officially because I typically try to avoid putting too much personal information on the internet but after having spent some time on the site I have gotten a better feel for the nature of its members and have seen the level of trust displayed by some of the regulars. My name is James and I live in Alberta, Canada and fish avidly for northern pike, walleye, perch, trout, and burbot in lakes and rivers in my area. Now and again I get the chance to fish for smallmouth bass in southern bc which I really enjoy. I am majoring in Biology with a focus in ecology and aquatic Biology. Kind of a Jeremy wade type; biologist and less extreme angler but not that I wouldn't if I could. I love Rapalas and that is reflected in the proportions of Rapalas to other manufacturers in my tackle box. I am not a collector as I only have 31 Rapalas to my name. I am strictly a fisherman and so I only buy lures that will significantly increase my ability to catch fish. Since I started fishing I have kept records and graphs of fish caught by my different crankbaits and by doing so have been able to more accurately identify the best lures for my area and style fishing and so I can reduce the amount of money wasted by buying lures that I will never really use. My best lures are BY FAR the husky jerk and the x-rap and then the original floater and the Glidin' rap.

Well I'd like to officially welcome you to the nation!! You seem to be the type of guy to fit right in!! I too love the Xrap, but have little experience with the other lures you use regularly, although I have had some experience with the husky jerk, and think that it may work pretty well for me if I gave it more of a chance. So many lures, so little time!!
I don't collect either, but I still love getting my hands on any rapala I feel like I can catch fish with. I have currently been trying to catch fish with as many different Rapalas as I can in one year, just to keep things interesting. The local lake I fish doesn't have many monsters, so I have been doing this lately to keep the excitement up!!
Check my results from last year in my Rapala Bet thread in the Fish Tales And Bragging Board category. Nothing giant, but I definitely caught fish on quite a few different lures. I assure you the results will at least make you reconsider your thoughts on color selection. I know it did for me and quite a few others on the board.
Anyway, welcome aboard and I really look forward to seeing more of what Canada has to offer!!

Well thank you qbert and yes I have been following your posts and threads and also with your goal to catch fish on as many different Rapalas as humanly possible. I really enjoy looking at all the pictures of the fish you catch even though they are not huge and am waiting for your next update. That is an awesome way to keep fishing fun given a limited option for fishing. And yes your thread and others like it have influenced the way I think about color and lure selection in that I have found that, for the most part, after you catch a fish the next lure you seem to switch to is a lure of similar size, profile, and depth but not necessarily color. color seems to be the less crucial variable in lots of cases. For example; If I were to lose a lure, say a firetiger countdown, in a snag that was working really well. I would be far more likely to select another minnow-profiled lure even of a different color over, say a shadrap in firetiger.
