I usually fish the same little lake, for the same little fish most of the time. That being said, the chance for a big fish just isn't there for me most days. In order to keep the excitement there, I often go out trying to catch fish on certain lures. For example, I tried a few times last year to catch something on all three Skitters(Pop, Prop and Walk) until I finally got it. That way, even if the fish are small, I still feel like I accomplished something!! Well this year I've got a bet with my girl that ought to keep me busy for a while. She bet me that I couldn't catch a fish with 77 different Rapala's this year. Strange number, I know, but that's what she picked. If I win, she has to buy me $100 worth of Rapala's, and if she wins I have to buy her a Cliff Lee Phillies jersey. I figure this site is the best place for me to keep track so as I catch them I'll list them here. Got myself a hatcam coming in the mail, so hopefully soon these will be accompanied by video evidence!! 1. F-5 Minnow 2. F-7 Hot Steel 3. F-7 Shiner 4. DT- FAT 3 Chartreuse Splatterback (custom)

Sounds like you've got a keeper with your girl. Just the fact that she has taken any interest at all in your hobby is great for the relationship. This sounds like a bet that you can have alot of fun with! Even if you lose, you win!

That's a pretty cool bet, win or lose, you're still gonna have a blast.

Well, I managed to catch one tiny bass today, and got to try out my hatcam setup. It is gonna take a little getting used to because the video barely shows the fish at all!! I'll get it down though. I figured now would be as good a time as any to learn how to post pics and videos, so I took a still photo of one of the 5 seconds of video, in which you can actually see my 5 ounce bass! Oh well at least I get to cross another lure off my list!! 6. F-9 Vampire

Got one more today, and you can actually see the fish in this video, although not much! I WILL get the hang of this hatcam thing though, even if i have to practice all year!! Not too sure if I am doing this right but I'll try to post the video. 7. F-9 Purpledescent

Hey qbert!
What if she meant 77 different "models/sizes" and she isn't planning on telling you until it's time to fork over the Jersey?
Just asking!

I hear you on the head movement Mark!! I gotta resist whipping my head around with every noise I hear!! I'll get it down eventually!! As far as the 77 models/sizes question goes, it will cost me way more than 100 bucks just to own that many so she can throw that technicality at me if she wants!! I got two more to scratch off my list today!! Hopefully I can get this pic posting stuff worked out, I think I'm 0 for 2 so far!! 8. F-9 Yellow Perch 9. J-9 Clown

Man it's been a while since I caught anything on a Rapala!! Didn't realize it had been since March 18th!! I have been working a lot lately so I'll just chalk it up to lack of opportunity. I managed to knock a few more lures off my list on some very tiny bass. This is why I own tons of F-9's and only one F-5 and two F-7's. When you catch bass this small (and a bluegill) with an F-9, what is the point of using anything smaller!! 10. F-9 Bleeding Olive Flash 11. F-9 Bleeding Pearl

i hear that.
i have a 120 gal aquarium right next to me, i have a 7 inch perch and my wifes 11 inch oscar in there right now. i had a sunfish in there, but the oscar killed it. he can be a mean bastard, but a 8 inch bass would be just fine i bet.

Well, I managed to get one more crossed off my list today. I didn't get a very good pic though because I was too busy keeping my eye on the male goose who was stalking me!! I guess the two geese who attacked me last year told all their friends, because this year every goose I see wants to peck my eyes out. The pair I dealt with today have a nest across the creek from one of my favorite spots. They have nested in the same spot for at least four years now and have never bothered me at all. Not this year though. The male has already chased me out of there twice this spring.. I wasn't leaving until I caught something this time though. Every time I went into my tackle box, and stopped staring at the goose, I would look up and see he had swam up 3 feet away from me like he was coming in for a sneak attack!! I just caught my 1 bass and got out of there before things got ugly!! 12. SSR-7 Baby Bass

I got a chance to get out for about an hour and a half today, and considering I haven't caught a damn thing my last 3 times out, I was happy to catch this guy, even if he was the only one!! 20. F-9 Rainbow Trout

Well, my day started out a little crappie in more ways than one. I managed to catch 2 little crappie, but missed 2 fish I know were bass, and something huge!! I have now convinced myself it was a carp I just foul hooked on my retrieve, because of the way it felt and the long mudtrail that it left behind in it's escape. It seemed "carplike" to me, but who knows. 21. F-9 Minnow 22. F-9 Trout At least after that this crappie showed up and felt like a small bass. It was definitely quite a bit bigger than the ones I usually catch. 23. F-9 Blue After losing yet another bass, who jumped and tossed my F-9 back at me and almost into my boat, I managed to land my first pickerel since the very first fish I caught this year. 24. F-9 Bleeding Chartreuse Shad I finally did manage to catch a few bass before I left. The first one was tiny, but at least it was the right species. The second was decent, so all in all not a bad day!! 25. F-9 Clown 26. F-9 Firetiger I was especially happy to catch something on both the FT and MN floaters. I have a big tackle box I sometimes sit on. I also had way too many F-9's packed into one section and ended up crushing the front of both of them bending the nose and cracking the wood a tiny bit. Looks like my repairs worked. Lesson learned with no lost lures!!

I managed to get out again today, and only caught two fish, but at least they were a little bigger today. I even heard a little drag screaming with the pickerel!! They really seem to like the FT color. 27. J-9 Firetiger 28. J-9 Hot Tiger

Nice Pike! but not to be an *sshole but you can easyly destroy it's skinslime for weeks using a net. Using rubber net will be better, Personaly I prefer not to use any net on pike.
I know it must be different over there but if I would post pictures of fish laying on the ground and on tacklebox oon dutch fishingboards I Instantly being warned and pics would be removed. They are very though on that matter in the Netherlands.
Anyways, great job, keep it up! I believe that you could make it!

Yea, I was thinking yesterday that I definitely need a new process for landing them. I am not too experienced with them, they only started showing up in my local lakes 2-3 years ago. Or at least that's when I started catching them. What is the best way to land them? For the fish that is. I've seen guys grip them from the back of the head, but they slipped out of my hand when I tried that. I definitely don't want to injure any fish unnecessarily, so any advice would be appreciated.

I usually just grab them behind the head, its a little tricky but you will get it eventually. The smaller ones can be especially hard to handle
